Why Yorkshire

Yorkshire really does have it all, from rolling hills, to bright city lights to award winning beaches. When considering relocating to Yorkshire, the question is what sort of lifestyle are you craving?

If you desire living in the tranquility of the countryside, Yorkshire has three areas of outstanding natural beauty, three National Parks and eleven National Nature Reserves. Relocate to North Yorkshire and many of these will be on your doorstep but wherever you choose to live, you are never really that far away from appreciating the spectacular breathtaking views that Yorkshire has to offer.

Of course, Yorkshire is not all about dry stone walls and picturesque villages. It is also home to Leeds, one of the most vibrant cities in the country and the UK’s fourth largest city. There are many reasons why families, young professionals and renters are relocating here. The city boasts a rich culture, thriving shopping centres and a buzzing social scene. Alongside this, house prices are very attractive. The number of Londoners relocating to Leeds rose by nearly 60% between 2013 and 2018, with Yorkshire being one of the “coolest” places for Londoners to relocate to. It goes without saying that the average house price in Leeds is significantly lower than in London so you can get more home for your money. There are plenty of trendy inner suburbs surrounding the city too, so there is property to suit all tastes and all budgets.

There are many other towns and cities in Yorkshire that are also highly sought after and would be ideal relocation destinations. York is another popular choice due to its plentiful winding cobbled back streets and numerous real ale houses to visit, as well as being home to the famous Minster. And let’s not forget the historic spa town of Harrogate, voted the number one place to work from home and one of the happiest places to live in the UK due to its low crime rates, great schools and plenty of green open space.

Yorkshire is home to many large national and international companies if you are considering a change of career or are looking to relocate with your current company. If you still need to travel further distances for work, there are excellent transport links across Yorkshire including access to major motorways and train lines direct to London, Edinburgh and other major UK cities. For those travelling even further afield for work, or even pleasure, Leeds Bradford Airport is situated about 20 minutes drive outside of Leeds city centre and there are regular domestic and international flights to many destinations.

Yorkshire is becoming increasingly popular with the outdoor adventurous among us. There are a growing number of cycle trails around the region, particularly good for those caught by the Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire bug! Among many other adventurous activities you will find: adventure walks through forest and woodland, surfing, horse riding, rock climbing, canoeing, rowing and numerous activities for families and young children such as farm adventures and steam railways attractions.

There really is something for everyone in Yorkshire.
